Gojek-Tokopedia Merger to Become GoTo Group

Gojek-Tokopedia officially merged under the umbrella of the GoTo Group. Why is it called GoTo?
Jakarta, TechnoBusiness ID (English Edition) • Two leading technology companies in Indonesia, Gojek and Tokopedia, finally merged.

Today, Gojek, which has a platform on-demand background, and Tokopedia, which is the largest e-commerce, officially unites under the umbrella of the GoTo Group.
In various social media, each company, including its executives, reported the naming of the new group.
“Today is a very historic day in the world of technology,” wrote William Tanuwijaya, co-founder and CEO of Tokopedia, in his Facebook account.

The name GoTo comes from the abbreviation Gojek and Tokopedia. However, it also comes from the word “gotong royong” which is the spirit behind the merger. [the_ad id=”13590″]
Post-merger, Andre Soelistyo from Gojek will lead as CEO of GoTo Group as well as concurrently as CEO of GoTo Financial.

Then, Patrick Cao from Tokopedia will serve as President of GoTo; Kevin Aluwi remains CEO of Gojek; and William Tanuwijaya also remains the CEO of Tokopedia. [the_ad id=”13590″]
With the Gojek-Tokopedia merger into the GoTo Group, “GoTo Group’s business model is becoming more diverse, stable and sustainable,” said Cao.
Going forward, GoTo Group hopes to contribute up to more than 2% of Indonesia’s total gross domestic product.•
