Shopee Indonesia launched the Shopee Export MSME Campus in Bandung, West Java.
Jakarta, TechnoBusiness ID (English Edition) ● Shopee Indonesia, a leading e-commerce company in Indonesia from Singapore, on Thursday (5/8) launched the MSME Shopee Export Campus in Bandung, West Java.

The launch of the MSME Shopee Export Campus, which is located in a three-story building in the Pasirluyu area, aims to bring micro, small, and medium enterprises in West Java to become an exporter.
In launching the Shopee Export MSME Campus, Shopee Indonesia is collaborating with the West Java Government – which targets 10,000 MSMEs to be able to export with Shopee by 2022.

In addition, Shopee Indonesia and the Government of West Java are also collaborating to develop the Shopee Vocational Curriculum Program for more than 200 Vocational High Schools through 400 teachers and 2,200 students.
The Shopee Vocational Curriculum provides hands-on teaching and training on digital business development. Then, giving graduates the opportunity to take part in an internship program at Shopee.
“As part of the realization of Curriculum 4.0 for empowering and developing the quality of human resources, SMK students in West Java will receive the Shopee curriculum, namely the digital entrepreneurship curriculum,” said West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.

This is a continuation of Shopee Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the growth of West Java MSMEs through West Java MSMEs Go Digital and distributing computers to rural areas via the Shopee Center.
“Today, we inaugurated the Shopee Center headquarters in West Java, namely the MSME Shopee Export Bandung Campus,” said Christin Djuarto, Executive Director of Shopee Indonesia, on Thursday (5/8).
So far, Shopee Indonesia has recorded an increase in daily transactions of up to six times in half a year (June 2020-January 2021) in the Shopee Export Program.

As of February, Shopee’s Export Program has exported 1.5 million local merchant products to Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. A month later, it expanded to Thailand, Vietnam, and Brazil.
Christin added that collaboration with the West Java Government is one of Shopee Indonesia’s contributions in producing 500,000 new exporters by 2030.
Jeffrey Bahar, Group Deputy CEO of Spire Research and Consulting, assessed that Shopee Indonesia’s move was very good, namely not only making Indonesia a market, but also an export player.

“It must be admitted that the movement of e-commerce players to help Indonesian MSMEs go global occurred after there was encouragement from a number of parties not to just make Indonesia a market,” he said.
This movement will be very good if all e-commerce players do it. Shopee, who understands the Southeast Asian market, said Jeffrey, is very likely to turn Indonesia from an importer to an exporter.●
